Stormhawk is a vertically scrolling shoot-em-up in the classic arcade tradition, and it is unusually generous with structure for a browser game. Thirty-two hand-built missions are spread across six theatres, each closing with its own boss fight and seeded with mini-bosses along the way. Firing is automatic, so the whole game is about movement: threading between bullet patterns and deciding when to commit to an attack run.
The barrel roll is what gives the game its character. Trigger it and your aircraft becomes briefly invincible while nearby bullets convert into points, which turns a defensive move into the primary scoring tool. Holding the roll input slows you down and tightens your shot, so the same button covers both escape and precision. Between missions you land and spend what you earned in the hangar, and the game keeps a campaign, an endless mode and a daily mission that every player receives identically. It plays well with a mouse or keyboard on desktop and with touch on mobile, where dragging anywhere on the screen steers the plane.
How to Play
Drag anywhere on the screen to fly. The aircraft follows your finger or cursor, and firing is automatic. Tap with a second finger to barrel roll: you become briefly invincible and nearby bullets turn into points. Hold that second finger to slow down and tighten your shot. Keyboard arrow keys also steer the plane on desktop.
Game Features
- 32 hand-built missions across six theatres, each with a boss
- Barrel roll that grants brief invincibility and converts bullets to points
- Campaign, endless and a shared daily mission
- Hangar upgrades purchased with mission earnings
Tips and Strategies
Use the roll offensively. Because it converts nearby bullets into points, rolling through a dense pattern scores more than avoiding it.
Hold to slow down during boss fights. The tighter shot spread matters far more than speed once a boss fills the screen.
Stay low on the screen. It gives you the most time to read incoming patterns before they reach you.
Play the daily mission. Everyone gets the same layout, which makes it the cleanest way to measure your own improvement.
Controls
