About Splatcha

Splatcha is a territory-control duel with a ninety-second clock. Two blobby rivals share an arena, paint the floor as they move, and whoever covers the most ground when time expires wins. It is one of the better local two-player games available in a browser, largely because the win condition is visible at a glance: you can see who is winning by looking at the floor, which keeps matches readable even when both players are moving constantly.

The dash is the tactical layer. It repositions you quickly but does not paint, so every dash is a bet that reaching new territory is worth the ground you did not cover getting there. Painting over your opponent's colour counts fully for you, which means late-game comebacks are always possible and the last fifteen seconds are usually the loudest part of a match. There are five distinct arenas, power-ups and golden chests scattered around them, and three modes: local two-player, single-player against a bot at three difficulty levels, and an arcade tower. Both players share one keyboard, and gamepads are supported.

How to Play

Player 1 moves with WASD and dashes with Space. Player 2 moves with the Arrow Keys and dashes with 0 or Enter. Movement paints the floor automatically, so simply moving covers ground. Gamepads are supported. On mobile, use the on-screen touch zones and play in landscape. Press P to pause.

Tips and Strategies

Paint over your opponent, not just empty floor. Contested ground swings the score by two, so it is worth twice as much as unclaimed space.

Dash to reach territory, not to escape. Dashing does not paint, so it only pays when it opens up ground you could not otherwise reach in time.

Hold the last fifteen seconds. Matches are usually decided at the end, so save an untouched corner to sweep late.

On a shared keyboard, agree on sides first. Most losses in local play come from both players reaching for the same space.

Controls
