Crossmath Challenge takes the shape of a crossword and fills it with arithmetic. You are given a grid of partially complete equations and a tray of number tiles, and each tile has to be placed so that the equations read correctly both across and down. The overlap is what makes it a puzzle: a number that satisfies a horizontal equation frequently breaks the vertical one running through the same cell, so most placements are constrained from two directions at once.
The arithmetic itself is deliberately simple. Nothing here requires more than basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and the challenge is entirely in the ordering. Cells sitting at the intersection of two equations are the ones worth solving first, because they have the fewest valid candidates; filling in the isolated single-direction cells early tends to produce a grid that looks nearly finished and cannot be completed. The game provides undo, a shuffle to reorder your tray and a limited hint that auto-fills a cell. It runs in 16:9 and works with a drag or a two-tap placement on any device.
How to Play
Tap or click a tile from the tray at the bottom, then tap an empty cell in the grid to place it. You can also drag a tile directly onto a cell. Every equation must be correct reading across and reading down. Tap Undo to remove your last placement, Shuffle to reorder the tiles in your tray, and Hint to auto-fill a cell, which is available a limited number of times.
Game Features
- Crossword-style grid where equations intersect in both directions
- Basic arithmetic only, with the challenge in the ordering
- Undo, tray shuffle and limited auto-fill hints
- Drag or two-tap placement on desktop and mobile
Tips and Strategies
Solve the intersections first. A cell that belongs to two equations has far fewer valid values than one that belongs to only a single equation.
Use the operators to narrow candidates. A division sign eliminates most of the tray immediately.
Save the hints. They are limited, and the puzzles that actually need one are the later ones.
Undo aggressively. Testing a tile and removing it costs nothing and is faster than working out the arithmetic in your head.
