About Block Blaster

Block Blaster is a grid-filling puzzle played on an 8x8 board, and its defining rule is a restriction: blocks cannot be rotated. In most block puzzles rotation is the escape hatch that saves a badly planned board. Removing it means the shape you are dealt is the shape you must place, which shifts the game from spatial dexterity to planning under uncertainty.

The loop is simple to describe. Drag pieces onto the grid, and any row or column you complete disappears and frees the space up again. The game ends when none of your available pieces fit anywhere. Because you can see the pieces you have been dealt but not the ones coming next, good play is about keeping the board flexible rather than maximising each individual clear. Players who chase clears aggressively tend to end up with a board full of awkward single-cell gaps and no piece that fits. Players who keep a large open region alive last much longer. It plays with a mouse on desktop or a drag on touch.

How to Play

Drag and drop the cube blocks onto the 8x8 grid. Fill a complete row or column with blocks to eliminate it and free the space again. Blocks cannot be rotated, so you must place each piece in the orientation you are given. The game ends when none of your remaining blocks fit anywhere on the board.

Game Features

  • 8x8 grid block puzzle with no piece rotation
  • Row and column clears that free space back up
  • Endless play that ends only when no piece fits
  • Mouse drag on desktop, touch drag on mobile

Tips and Strategies

Protect one large open area. Survival depends on always having somewhere a big piece can go, not on clearing lines quickly.

Place the largest piece first. Fitting the awkward shape while you still have room is far easier than saving it for last.

Build from the edges inward. Gaps left along a wall are much harder to fill than gaps in the middle.

Do not chase a clear that leaves single-cell holes. One isolated empty square can block an entire row for the rest of the game.

Controls

  • Mouse drag — Place blocks
  • Touch drag — Place blocks on mobile
