About PlayNova
PlayNova is a small, independently run website that collects free HTML5 games you can play in a browser, and writes a proper page for each one: what the game actually is, how it controls, and what is worth knowing before you start.
Where our games come from
We want to be direct about this, because it is the single most important thing to understand about a site like ours: PlayNova does not develop the games it publishes, and does not own them. Every game on this site is made by an independent studio or developer, and the copyright in it belongs to them.
The games are delivered to us through GameMonetize, a distribution network that licenses HTML5 games to websites on behalf of their developers. Developers submit their games to the network, the network grants participating sites the right to embed them, and revenue is shared back to the developer. That licence is what allows the games to appear here.
We say so on every single game page, next to the game itself, along with the provider's reference for that title. If you are a developer and you believe a game on this site is published here without your permission, ourDMCA page explains exactly how to reach us and what happens next. That channel is a working mailbox that a person reads.
How our game pages are written
A game page on PlayNova is not the developer's marketing blurb pasted into a template. The description, the feature list and the strategy notes are written for this site, and a person reads every page before it goes live.
The factual parts are handled separately. Control schemes come from the developer's own documentation supplied through the distribution network and are checked against the game as it actually runs on the page, so that what we tell you to press is what works.
There are also things you will not find here, deliberately:
- No star ratings. We do not yet collect ratings from visitors, and inventing a score would be dishonest.
- No play counters. Same reason. A number like "72,000 plays" on a new site is decoration, not data.
- No fake reviewer. Pages are published under the PlayNova editorial name rather than an invented staff persona with a made-up biography.
If we add ratings or play counts later, they will come from real visitor activity, and we will say so.
What we currently publish
The catalogue is intentionally small. There are 25 games on the site across 5 categories (Action, Arcade, Brain, Puzzle, Sports), each with its own written page. We would rather publish a short list of games we can describe properly than a large one we cannot.
Games are selected on three grounds: they must run reliably in a normal browser without plugins or downloads; they must be free to play; and they must not contain intrusive pop-ups or deceptive purchase prompts. We also skip games that borrow another company's characters or branding, even when the distribution network offers them.
How we pay for it
PlayNova is free to use. The site is supported by advertising and by the revenue share that comes with the game licences described above. Advertising never determines which games we publish or what we write about them. Our privacy policy and cookie policy set out what advertising means for your data.
